The novel series inspired a 26-episode television anime adaptation that debuted in April 2014, directed by Manabu Ono at Madhouse. Yen Press licensed the original The Irregular at Magic High School light novel series and Yu Mori's spinoff manga The Honor Student at Magic High School.
Kitaumi previously drew the art for the four-volume Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei: Nyūgaku-hen manga and the five-volume Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei: Kyūkōsen-hen manga, which adapted the first two arcs (four volumes) of the novel series. Kitaumi launched the manga in Square Enix's Monthly G Fantasy magazine in October 2016. The manga adapts the 12th volume of Tsutomu Satou's original The Irregular at Magic High School light novel series, known as the "Double Seven" arc.

The July issue of Square Enix's Monthly G Fantasy magazine revealed on Tuesday that Tsuna Kitaumi's Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei: Double Seven-hen ( The Irregular at Magic High School: Double Seven) manga will end in the next issue on July 18.
